Hang up the saddle
Wipe the dust off your boots,
there's nothing to gain here
And everything to lose.
The wandering wild horses
Have all been tied up and tamed,
And only tumbleweeds
Roll through town down main
Oh what has become
Of my wild western world?
The dust never settled
Now it barely even stirs
The shadows still dance
In deserted saloons
And the canyons still echo
Guns shot at high noon
They fenced off the cattle
Sent our cowboys off to war
They drank up the gold
And sold the soil we wouldn't sow.
The railcars shake the shingles
Off the shacks we sheltered in
And the bands of coyotes
Have silenced their howling
Oh what has become
Of my wild western world?
The dust never settled
Now it barely even stirs
The shadows still dance
In deserted saloons
And the canyons still echo
Guns shot at high noon
The deer and antelope don’t play anymore
The buffalo have gone to walk a celestial shore
We stripped the people of their bows and their braids
Oh Lord, what have we done? And what is there to save?
Oh what has become
Of my wild western world?
The dust never settled
Now it barely even stirs
The shadows still dance
In deserted saloons
And the canyons still echo
Guns shot at high noon
Performed live at the Buffalo Trace Festival in Petersburg, Indiana, on October 9.

You were the sun I was the moon
I crossed galaxies to be with you
I'd come out to end of the day
But at night you would just hide away
So no one knew the bond we had
Skipping stones over lily pads
I know that I'll love again
It's just hard to lose your closest friend
The sweet smell of summer rain
Has me running back to you again
But I forgot that flowers bloomed
That was until I let go of you
And though I still see signs
saying that you should be mine
I take them as you saying hi
Though you wouldn't if you passed me by
And when I pick flowers from my diary
I don't think of how you wouldn't buy them for me
Would you be proud of her I've become
I'm no longer the girl you couldn't love
Still the sweet smell of summer rain
Has me running back to you again
But I forgot that flowers bloomed
That was until I let go of you
And though I love you still
It's never more than the life built
After waiting in the wings
Of you trying to live out your father's dreams
I'll sleep on a bed of hydrangeas
And dream of a life that I could have known
And it's sad, but I'm glad
Glad I'm on my own
Still, the sweet smell of summer rain
has me running back to you again
But I forgot the flowers bloomed
That was until I let go of you

Daytrips for fro-yo
Going where the wind blows
You know you can always cry around me.
Bug girl with her bagel
Taylor with her fable
Dwelling over how things used to be.
Enemies or best friends
Mother swift and dead ends
All was well until you marooned me.
But don't worry, I've been here before.
You got to see it all
Poured out on your bedroom floor.
From dancing in your kitchen
To sacred quiet endings.
You know I'll persevere
After all, I've been here.
Carefree summer of love
The boy that I dreamed of
Betrayal you kept me afloat through.
Silent Irish goodbyes
You were both my ride or dies
So how could you do this to me?
What happened to the two of us?
Staying up late and getting lost
I couldn't even tell you about the first fall of snow
Cause with the new year you let me go
But don't worry, I've been here before.
You got to see it all
Poured out on your bedroom floor.
From dancing in your kitchen
To sacred quiet endings.
You know I'll persevere
After all, I've been here.
